Panini National Treasures Basketball: Collector Guide
A collector's guide to Panini National Treasures basketball: RPAs, Logomans, record sales for Curry, Luka and Giannis, and how to buy NT cards smartly.
For most of the Panini era, National Treasures was the brand serious basketball collectors waited for each year. Its rookie patch autographs (RPAs) became the defining rookie card for a generation of stars, and its Logoman 1/1s produced some of the biggest sales in hobby history: Stephen Curry at a $5.9 million valuation, Luka Doncic at a reported $4.6 million, and Giannis Antetokounmpo at $1,857,300. This guide explains what National Treasures (NT) is, which cards matter, and how to buy them wisely now that Panini's NBA license has ended.
What Is Panini National Treasures?
National Treasures is an ultra-premium basketball product known for:
- Rookie Patch Autographs (RPAs), serial-numbered (for example, Luka Doncic's 2018-19 NT RPA is numbered to 99), with on-card autographs and multi-color patches,
- Logoman cards, usually 1/1, with the full NBA-logo jersey patch,
- low-numbered parallels, memorabilia cards and autographs of current stars and legends.
Curry's record card is labeled 2009-10 Panini Playoff National Treasures, which places NT at the start of the Panini NBA era. When the NBA license moved to Topps on October 1, 2025 (NBA.com), the licensed NT run came to an end. That fixes the supply of NT rookies from the Curry, Giannis, Luka and Wembanyama years.

Stephen Curry 2009-10 NT Rookie Logoman Autograph 1/1
In July 2021, Alt bought a 51% stake in this card at a $5.9 million valuation, then the highest price for a modern sports card (PR Newswire, Beckett). It is graded PSA 8 with a PSA 10 autograph.
Luka Doncic 2018-19 NT RPA Logoman 1/1
This card reportedly sold privately for $4.6 million in early 2021. It brought $3.12 million at PWCC's public auction in November 2022 (Beckett, Fanatics Collect). See our Luka rookie card guide.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 2013-14 NT Logoman Autograph 1/1
In September 2020, Goldin sold this BGS 9 card (with a 10 autograph) for $1,812,000 hammer, or $1,857,300 with buyer's premium. NBA.com described it as the highest price ever for a modern-day basketball card at that point.
Victor Wembanyama 2023-24 NT Logoman 1/1
In March 2025, this card sold for $528,000 at Fanatics Collect. It has no autograph, and its back states that the material is not tied to any player, game or event (Yahoo Sports/cllct). Read why in our Logoman guide.
Luka Doncic 2018-19 NT RPA /99
The base RPA shows how NT prices react to market cycles. BGS 9.5 copies sold for $266,400 in April 2022, $66,000 in May 2023 and $84,000 in July 2023 (Graded Card Investor).
Key National Treasures Rookie Years at a Glance
| NT year | Headline rookie | Benchmark card | What it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2009-10 | Stephen Curry | Rookie Logoman Auto 1/1 ($5.9M valuation, 2021) | Early NT cards of all-time greats carry the highest values |
| 2013-14 | Giannis Antetokounmpo | Logoman Auto 1/1 ($1,857,300, 2020) | A late-blooming star can turn a modest rookie class into a record |
| 2018-19 | Luka Doncic | RPA Logoman 1/1 ($4.6M private, 2021; $3.12M public, 2022) | Even 1/1s go through boom and correction |
| 2023-24 | Victor Wembanyama | Logoman 1/1, no autograph ($528,000, 2025) | Autograph rights shape the ceiling |
The pattern: the most valuable NT cards combine a rookie season, a 1/1 or very low print run, a Logoman patch and, ideally, an on-card autograph from a player who became an all-time great.
The National Treasures RPA: Why It Became the Standard
On-card autographs and real patches
Collectors pay up for on-card signatures and multi-color patches. Buyers of NT RPAs often care as much about the patch window and signature as about the numeric grade.
Clear serial numbering
Each RPA tier has a known print run. Collectors can tell exactly how scarce a /99, /25 or 1/1 is, so pricing tiers are easy to understand.
A brand that holds its status year after year
NT kept its standing through more than a decade of Panini releases. NT RPAs and Logomans became the most expensive rookie-year cards for many stars.
National Treasures vs Other High-End Brands
NT's main rivals were Flawless and Immaculate, along with Upper Deck's earlier Exquisite. On the same rookie, Luka, Flawless's 1/1 Logoman (a reported $4.7 million) slightly topped NT's ($4.6 million). The Flawless RPA is numbered to 25, compared with 99 for the NT RPA. Our National Treasures vs Flawless vs Immaculate comparison covers the differences, and the Flawless guide goes deeper on Flawless.
How to Buy National Treasures Cards
1. Confirm the exact card and parallel
NT has many inserts and parallels. Match the card number, serial number and parallel name against the checklist.
2. Study the patch and autograph
Two RPAs with the same grade can sell for very different prices if one has a multi-color patch and a clean signature.
3. Prefer graded, authenticated copies
Grading companies check authenticity and condition, and the autograph can be graded separately. Verify every cert online.
4. Use time-matched comps
Luka's NT RPA lost 75% between April 2022 and May 2023. Comps from even a year earlier can mislead you.
5. Respect the license change
With licensed NT ended, the supply of each year's NT rookies is closed. That can support long-term demand, but it does not guarantee higher prices. Later products, including unlicensed releases, will not carry NBA logos (Giant Sports Cards).
Common National Treasures Mistakes
- Confusing the base RPA with parallels. A /99 and a /25 or 1/1 of the same player are different markets.
- Ignoring the autograph grade on slabs that list one separately.
- Paying 2021 prices. Many NT cards peaked in 2021–2022.
- Treating a reported private price as a comp. Use public auction results wherever possible.
- Buying ungraded high-value patch cards from unknown sellers. See how to spot fake graded cards.
Is National Treasures Still Worth Collecting?
For many collectors, yes. NT cards are tied to some of the most important rookies of the 2010s and 2020s, and their supply is now fixed. But the market's history shows that prices can fall sharply even for top NT cards. Buy the cards you want to own for years, at prices you can defend with recent comps.
